Five years ago, on this day Mumbai was burning.

Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab, The Pakistani terrorist who was a member of the group who took part in those attack was finally  hanged at the Yerwada jail in Pune on 21st, he was 25.

Ajmal Kasab was nabbed on the day of the attack itself, but was treated as a guest of the nation till now. A ceremony that reportedly cost 40 crores, the moolah which came out of the common man's tax. Certain media report states that he died of a dengue fever and the officials are just fooling everyone else.

Ajmal Kasab was convicted for more than 80 cases, which also included "Entering a Railway platform without a Platform ticket".

Actually he pleaded not guilty for all of them, saying that he had come to Mumbai to be a film actor and that he was caught while he strolling on the beach. But the Judge took none of it as there were CCTV and news footage, eyewitnesses and other evidences that showed otherwise.

Kasab was told by the jail authorities on Tuesday evening that he would be executed on Wednesday. "He barely slept that night. He was asked to get ready at 4 am. He said he wanted to eat tomatoes, so he was given a basketful. However, he took only two tomatoes and ate only one around 6 am," the source said. After that, he offered namaz, read the Quran and was given prayer beads by the jail officials.

But the fact that it took 4 years to hang him itself says a story about our judicial System. But when you look at it as the second fastest hanging in the history of similar cases in India. It shows the snail pace of our machinery.

Pakistan was informed about the hanging , but never responded neither did they claim the body. The body was buried in the Yerwada jail itself. Six identical pits were dug in order to keep it a secret.

Personally, I think they could have delayed the hanging till today so that it would have been a poetic justice to the people who suffered in the 26/11 attacks.
